What can

Dermal Fillers Do For You?

1. Anti-ageing

Dermal fillers restore volume to our face to treat age-related sagginess and wrinkles due to lax skin and facial volume loss.

2. Enhance facial features

Dermal fillers can be used to sculpt our face to give our face more definition and enhance our facial features.

Types of

Dermal Fillers

Hyaluronic acid fillers

Contains hyaluronic acid, a natural compound found in our skin. It is responsible for many functions in our body like hydration and lubrication of joints. It also aids tissue repair and stimulates the production of collagen.

Collagen-stimulating fillers

Contains safe, synthetically-produced compounds that when injected into the skin, volumises the area and stimulates the body’s fibroblasts to produce collagen for long-lasting effect.

Which dermal filler

IS SUITABLE FOR YOU?

People who want results fast and who need very precise volumisation would opt for hyaluronic acid filler, which fills up the area by itself.

Collagen-stimulating fillers are for people who like the concept of having the body generate collagen naturally for volumisation. It is natural and gives long-lasting volumisation.

However, both are natural in that hyaluronic acid is found in the skin while collagen-stimulating fillers generate collagen to volumise. The filler that doctors use would depend on the location that we use it on and the preference of the patient.

THE SCULPTRA DIFFERENCE

Sculptra is a commonly-used collagen-stimulating filler. But did you know that it was first used in 2004 for a medical condition called lipodystrophy of the face, which is the loss of fat due to illness. It was used to stimulate collagen over the cheeks area, so that the cheeks will not look so sunken.

Over time, Sculptra was used for aesthetic purposes. Find out how this filler works to encourage a natural lift and transformation from within.

Why is

Technique Important?

The technique used to apply the dermal filler is more important than the type of dermal filler. Doctors are moving away from needles to using the “Magic Needle”, which is a micro-cannula, to apply fillers.

A micro-cannula is a blunt flexible wire that doctors insert and slide under the skin to apply the dermal filler. There are many advantages to using a micro-cannula:

  • – It gives a natural and more even fill.
  • Lowers the chance of complications including bruising.
  • – Bleeding is minimised.
  • Safer with fewer possible side effects compared to needles.
  • One injection point compared to multiple injections.

FAQS

The longevity depends on the type of filler used and the treatment area. It can range from one year to two years, and maybe more for collagen-stimulating fillers.

It varies as different people have different volume requirements and expectations. Let your doctor advise you during consultation.

After cleansing and numbing your face, your doctor will insert the filler with the “Magic Needle”. Treatment takes about 30 mins to 1 hr.

The doctor uses multiple techniques to make your treatment a comfortable one. The use of the “Magic Needle”, numbing cream, and ice packs are some examples.

Light washing of the face and make-up is fine. Light exercise is fine, but avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, Aspirin, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (i.e. painkillers).

Occasionally, reactions can occur, but they are temporary and typically resolve within a week. This include bruising, redness, swelling, tenderness, and slight bleeding at injection sites. For the best recovery, follow your doctor’s instructions.
